adidas Aloha Super "One Black Eye"
adidas Skateboarding and Mark Gonzales dive into the archives, revisiting the much-referenced interview in the June 1993 edition of Thrasher Magazine that gave us one of his most notable quotes. Upon being asked about the unique perspective and determination that allows skateboarders to almost enjoy the pain of skating through injuries, he replied with the rhetorical question: “can you imagine a boxer going into a fight and already having one black eye?”
The result of this trip back in time is the adidas Aloha Super One Black Eye, a skate-ready shoe executed in a distinct pink suede upper inspired by the color of the Thrasher Magazine that brought this quote to life. The shoe also features leather three-stripe branding, embroidered heel tab artworks taken from the interview and an ‘MG’ monogram, as well as translucent gum tooling for the sole.
